Six-week obedience programs

Basic Obedience — 6 weeks, $375+hst

Obedience training usually starts around 4–5 months old, but can be taught at any age — it's never too late to add structure. Our 6-week obedience class covers all the basic commands and helps address the most common behavioural problems. Each class is an hour and builds on the last to slowly challenge your dog in more situations.

In 6 weeks, you'll learn a complete basic obedience program on leash to ensure safety and the ability to properly exercise your dog. Class focus is on building first-time response to commands around distractions and building communication skills between you and your dog.

FAQ

Group class questions, answered

Will my reactive dog do okay in a group class?
Reactive dogs usually need foundation work before joining a standard group class — and we'll be straight with you about it at the consultation. Once you and a trainer have had some private sessions to work on your handling and your dog's response to triggers, our Reactive Dog Workshop ($60/class) is the next step: more practice handling your dog in a controlled environment, with focus on triggers and healthy coping skills. The right starting point depends on your dog, which is exactly what the consultation is for.
What if I miss a week?
Get in touch as soon as you know. Group classes build week to week, so we'd rather help you catch up than have you fall behind. We'll go over make-up options at the consultation and confirm what works for the specific class you're registering for.
Do you require vaccinations?
Yes — up-to-date vaccinations are required for the safety of every dog in class. Early Puppy Socialization specifically requires the second set of shots before your puppy can join (around 10 weeks old; rabies isn't required until 16 weeks). Bring proof to your first class — we'll confirm exactly what's needed at your consultation.
What gear do I need?
A flat collar or harness, a six-foot leash, and high-value treats are the basics. We'll talk through any additional training tools at your consultation — and as an authorized E-Collar Technologies dealer, we can recommend and supply the right gear when it's the right fit for your dog.
